HARD ROCK HEADS TO MEXICO
Hard Rock International announced an agreement with Palace Resorts LLC to
transform Palace Resorts properties in Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Maya into
Hard Rock Hotels.
The transformation process will begin in the coming months, with the first Hard
Rock-branded hotel in Cancun scheduled to launch in winter 2012. Puerto Vallarta is
scheduled to open in spring 2012, followed by a fall 2012 first-phase debut of Hard Rock
Hotel Riviera Maya. Each hotel will remain fully operational as an existing Palace Resorts
property during the conversion process.
“Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Maya are perennially popular Mexican
vacation spots and a natural draw for Hard Rock patrons,” said Hard Rock International
executive vice president, hotels and casinos Michael Shindler. “We are pleased to extend
our relationship with Palace Resorts in light of its track record of creating some of the
best resorts in the Americas over the last 25-plus years.”
Each Hard Rock Mexico location is a beachfront property that, upon its re-flagging,
will feature all-inclusive luxury accommodations, including in-room double Jacuzzis, fine
dining, top-shelf drinks, 24-hour room service, live entertainment and more. All three will
offer Hard Rock’s signature Rock Star Suites and will showcase an extensive collection
of authentic memorabilia from international and local music artists, while incorporating
diverse music genres throughout. Additionally, in keeping with the Hard Rock tradition,
each property will host an ongoing schedule of live concerts, celebrity-driven soirees
and other exciting on-site events. ( www.hardrockhotels.com)
TRAVEL INSTITUTE OFFERS NEW PROGRAM
The Travel Institute has launched a new groundbreaking program
that will bring together the brightest minds in the travel industry to
deliver training on the latest trends and best practices.
Successful applicants to the new Professional Educators’ Program
(PEP) will be contributing blogs, white papers, podcasts, e-books,
interviews and webinars which, in turn, will be delivered on a regular
basis to Travel Institute members.
“We have always been fortunate to have friends of The Travel
Institute contributing their time and expertise to educate our members. The Professional Educators’ Program is an attempt to formalize
this process and expand our reach. We also now have the technology in place to deliver training through a variety of media that we
weren’t able to in the past,” says Patty Noonan, director of sales for
The Travel Institute.
The Professional Educators’ Program is the latest in a series of new
initiatives that The Travel Institute has taken this year to fulfill its mission to be one of the top resources for travel professionals at all career
stages as well as the place where they can find the latest knowledge and insight to ensure their success. Earlier this year, The Travel
Institute created a new and improved website and launched Com-muniversity, an online “campus” containing more than 600 courses on
business skills. ( www.thetravelinstitute.com/pep)
